LONG COVID 19 Care in Utah 2023

02-24-2023 09:28

Dear colleagues, we had a great set of talks from the Bateman Horn Center, UU, and DHHS on Long CV19 care.

Take aways for me include

1) Utah has a higher prevalence than many states per CDC data

2) No definitive test yet, so it is a symptom documentation diagnosis

3) Average duration 9 mo but some longer

4) after 6 months patients are considered  to meet ME CFS Criteria

5) Women , middle age, rural, patients most affected in statistics

6) The UU clinic gets 5-10 new referrals a day STILL

7) If a patient has it code U09.0 to assist Utah and CDC to track this and validate it as a condition of concern

8) Our partners on the talk are advocating for $ from the state to support research and ongoing support for patients

9) Many patients cannot work >50% of their prior schedule and exertion induced fatigue is a part of this

Lots more in the talk.
